New drawings

I'm busy with setting up a studio called Snappy Sunday, along with a dear friend of mine.
We're in the process of making a logo, a website. Apart from this we're having a training in setting up your own business. We're learning about the brandkey and other usefull things.

We're scheming to make a new animated short film, Apart from this we're scheming to make a new short animation. We're looking into some allowances you can get in the Netherlands and we have some appointments with producers.

I can't share everything we're working on, because we want to keep it a surprise but I do want to share some new drawings I've made in the past period.

Taking my Vespa girl character into a new dimension ;)

This is supposed to be Tim and Mary from the lovely movie About Time. I've seen it a few days ago and I really loved it. Best romantic comedy I've seen in ages. Made me go see it twice in two days!

Portrait of Inge

A while ago I made a portrait of a girl who I know from the art academy.
She studied audio visual design and she made a documentary about her own life and the stress about the choices we make in life and what we should be doing with the rest of our lives after graduating.
I really liked her film because it was so honest and touching and it's a subject I think is closely related to everyone. I'm not sure if I make the right choices in life and if what I'm doing now is okay. Life seems so short and we have this image of what we are going to be, or who we want to be, but how do you get there and aren't we wasting time on the trivial stuff. And am I going to regret the things I'm not doing now because I'm scared of a few things? The film got me thinking a lot and it triggered me to make a portrait of her.

She really liked it, I hope you do too.

Showreel and end product

Yesterday we had our assessment and the teachers were very pleased with what I made.
I received good grades, four times 8 points out of 10.

So I'm really proud to present my finished work :) I would have been proud without the good grades aswell ;) so don't worry.

This is my showreel of January 2012.

And this is my final animation for the lipsync exercise;

First part says; Listen Animation, Second part says ; Speach Animation.

The first part is a reaction to a text of a friend. My friend designed a little fox, and it was supposed to be her plushie, that she still has.
First part says:
Hello. I'm the fox of Irene and I hate that. I live in her bed, and there's nothing there to enjoy, like running around or hunting. I would really like to get out of here! So adopt me!

In the Lipsync animation, this is what's being said :
I love the Vespa. It is so much fun when I drive really fast, and when I take bends really quick. It's like I'm someone else. I'm not insecure anymore. At that moment I'm the girl on the Vespa.

I worked on this for about 2,5 months. It took a lot of effort, but it was totally worth it.
I got the inspiration to make this, because I'm a very proud owner of a classic Vespa myself.

Originally my character was in 3d, but I rendered it with a Toon shader. I think it works really well, but if you're curious how it would have looked in 3d, I also have those videos, but not online. So let me know if you want to see them.
I hope you enjoyed my work!
